NPIEN’s Henry Kamae Attendance Award Nomination Form - DUE JUNE 14, 2024
Please fill out this form by June 14 2024 to nominate a student.

CRITERIA:

1. Pacific Islander students (Example: Chamorro (Guam, Marianas Islands), Fijian, Hawaiian, Maori, Marshallese, Samoan, Tahitian, Tongan, Palauan, and other Pacific islands) and any other students who have participated in Pacific Islander student club or community activities) in grades 6-12 are eligible for the NPIEN Henry Kamae Attendance Award named after the late Henry Kamae, Native Hawaiian Ukulele musician and NPIEN sponsor and supporter who played and taught Ukulele music to many students to encourage their school participation and attendance.  Pacific Islanders have one of the highest chronic absenteeism rates in the nation and this award will recognize the importance of student attendance and academic achievement.
2. Students may be nominated by their school's teacher, counselor, attendance staff, or the School Attendance Review Team or School Attendancxe Review Board. 
3. Students are selected based on: 1. Excellent Attendance during the academic school year or 2. Excellent improvement of attendance during the academic school year.
4. Middle School and High School Students (4-8 per region) will be recognized at the NPIEN Miniature Golf Touirnament in August 2024 at Golf N Stuff in Norwalk, California.  Each NPIEN regional chapter will also host a Miniature Golf Tornament in August 2024 for this purpose.  A complimentary game of golf for the student award recipients along with other awards will be provided. 
5. NPIEN is also working with local businesses to provide discounts at their establishments for the awards recipients.
