Culture Shock: Adapting to Grad School While Staying True to Ourselves
Going to graduate school can feel like you’re being immersed in a new culture, with customs, expectations, and even language that are totally different from what you’re used to. It can be stressful for anyone to learn how to be in this world, and even more if you’re the first in your family to do so. How can we hold on to who we are while adapting to the “culture” of grad school? In this workshop, we explore how our personal and cultural backgrounds influence the way we experience grad school, discuss the stress that comes from adjusting to a new way of life, and learn ways to manage this stress while drawing on our individual strengths.

Please note that this workshop is intended for currently enrolled graduate students at SDSU, and it is not available for course credit, accreditation requirements, or observation.
