Wednesdays June 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 7 to 8:30pm
The Foundry, West Stockbridge
Join local poet and writer Gillian Ebersole for a writing workshop this June focusing on poetry, prose, and short fiction! Every Wednesday in June, we’ll meet to read, brainstorm, and write together. Sharing is encouraged, but always optional. Think of this as a writer’s club — a casual hangout with some poems, good conversation, and a pen in hand!
Attending all workshops is encouraged, but drop-ins are always welcome. This workshop is open to all people who like to write, regardless of poetry experience. Please bring an open mind, your favorite writing utensil, and a notebook!
Workshop 1: Imagery (June 7)
What is a poem? We’ll always begin by reading to gather inspiration. In the first workshop, we will explore the self, creating a bank of imagery to use for future poems.
Workshop 2: Place (June 14)
In this workshop, we will focus on creating a sense of location, drawing on places that mean something to us and on the environment around us.
Workshop 3: Form (June 21)
Sonnets, golden shovels, epistles and more! We’ll read a variety of structured poems and observe what resonates. No Shakespeare here - just an attention to rhythm and shape.
Workshop 4: Prose (June 28)
To finish, we’ll explore the beauty and simplicity of a prose poem (Gillian’s favorite) in this workshop. How do we take the reader on a journey in only a paragraph?
Sliding Scale Pricing:
- $20/workshop or all 4 for $65
- $15/workshop or all 4 for $50
- $10/workshop or all 4 for $35
