CORENA provides a practical way for people to fund action on the climate emergency. We provide zero interest loans to community groups to build renewable energy installations and fund climate initiatives. Community groups repay loans out of the savings on their power bills. They reduce their carbon footprint without being out of pocket. CORENA’s revolving fund model means money donated will be reused again in lending to subsequent projects. $100 donated to our first project has now been used to lend over $350 in projects. We’ve lent over $800,000 in project loans to over 42 community groups in Australia.

CORENA has always funded rooftop solar and energy efficiency projects. In 2020, we added getting off gas and electric vehicles funding to our priorities. We aim to loan primarily to organisations that serve the community and for climate projects with a reasonable payback that wouldn't have happened without our loan.
