The OhioDance Virtual Dance Collection™ was unveiled on April 29, 2017. The collection now features thirty-three significant pivotal developments that have formed the unique dance history of Ohio http://vdc.ohiodance.org/ Through archival images, performance videos, oral histories of key figures, and discussions of crucial concepts in dance composition, as well as scholarly analyses of dance styles and genres, the interactive website provides educational content and historical context for a deeper understanding of dance. The project goal is to honor historical contributions to the field, while engaging current and future generations through documentation, interpretation, and preservation of America’s dance heritage in Ohio. This showcase of the rich dance history in Ohio aligns perfectly with OhioDance’s mission to support the diverse and vibrant practice of dance of all cultures and for all capabilities.

OhioDance plans to expand the Collection with particular emphasis on diversity of dance genres, diversity among the nominees themselves, and diversity of geographic location across the state.

Final selections will be made by the end of April 2023.
