1. The
purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding, long-term volunteer service to the NELMSC.
2. The criteria for the award are as follows:
a. The nominee has maintained current NELMSC registration for the last ten (10) years.
b. The nominee has consistently demonstrated outstanding service to Masters Swimming with their leadership, recruitment of members, program development, and / or promotion of Masters Swimming at the club, local, or national level. Promoting improved physical fitness and health; opportunities to participate in lifelong fitness and /or competitive programs; encouraging organizations and communities to establish and support Masters swimming programs; enhancing fellowship and camaraderie among Masters swimmers; and/or through research in the sociology, psychology, and physiology of Masters swimming are some of the areas of contribution that may be recognized.
3. Nominations and Selection:
a. This award may or may not be given annually to one individual.
b.
A nomination announcement shall be published in the NELMSC newsletter and displayed on the New England Masters website: https://www.nelmsc.org/awards and the New England Masters Swimming Social Media pages including Facebook and Instagram
c. Any NELMSC member or club may make a nomination by providing to the NELMSC Awards and Recognition Chair a written statement based on the above criteria by the published deadline. *Nominations MUST INCLUDE contact information for both the nominee and the nominator.
*The nomination form AND one-page Letter of Endorsement, detailing the positive impact of the nominee's contributions to NELMSC, and if pertinent to USMS, must accompany this nomination form. Provide verifiable examples of what the nominee did that was meritorious, and/or explain how the nominee went above and beyond the scope or significance of contributions. How did the contributions lead to a positive impact on the NELMSC (and USMS if applicable) at the local, national, zone and/or LMSC level? The significance of the nominee's contributions are the factors that usually distinguish one candidate from the others. The one page letter of endorsement must be submitted to the Awards and Recognition Chair, Tara Mack, by the nomination END DATE noted above.
d. The NELMSC A&R chair, and committee as designated, shall make the selection prior to the first meeting following the nomination deadline.
e. The award shall be announced at the Annual NELMSC Awards and HOF Induction
Celebration held each year on the Sunday of the last weekend of September.
