Are you a high school aged youth in the Portland Metro Area? Are you interested in social justice issues like anti-racism, environmental justice, and transportation justice? Do you want to learn real-world skills to address issues in our community that affect youth? Then the YEJA internship could be right for you!
YEJA is a PAID internship. As a YEJA intern, you will receive a stipend for your participation: $320/month, for approximately 16 hours per month. You will learn skills to mobilize our communities, and you will get specific political education workshops about the topics that matter most to you.
Interns' responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing youth and community members through recruitment, phone calling, texting, and public speaking
- Planning political events like rallies, protests, Earth Day, and political education workshops
- Coordinating and participating in political advocacy on the local and regional level
- Helping steer campaign decisions and YEJA workshop topics
- Participating in conversations about race, gender, class, ability, and personal experiences and issues (as appropriate)
