Occupational Therapists are Mental Health Professionals
Hello,

We are a group of occupational therapists who are leading a collective advocacy strategy to address and promote the sustainability of our scope of practice in mental health in BC. On January 25, 2024, we were notified by COTBC that Adrian Dix has proposed amendments to the OT scope of practice in the Health Professions Act. These amendments only include OT services for individuals and they only include physical and cognitive interventions. To view these for yourself, go here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/health/practitioner-pro/professional-regulation/ot_regulation_2024.pdf?bcgovtm=MoH-Proposes-Amendments-to-OT-Regulation

We are no longer collecting responses on this form. We have final drafts of the letters here.
Please submit one of the following to the Minister of Health (Adrian Dix), the Minister of Mental Health and Substance Use (Jennifer Whiteside) and your local MLA:

You can also share these letters with friends, health professionals, family, and anyone you think may be interested in promoting sustained access to mental health occupational therapy services for public health and safety.

Thank-you very much for your consideration.
