We are currently recruiting volunteers for Bedford Santa! If you are interested in participating or finding out more information, please fill out the form below. Most of our volunteers return year after year. There is no experience required apart from a valid driver's license for driving roles. The Bedford Community Santa Program was founded under the idea of spreading inclusion in the community. All are welcome and invited to join us regardless of race, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, education, economic status or residency.

Nearly all of our volunteer roles this year will take place on December 17th (Gift Drop Day) or December 24th (Christmas Eve). (There are also a few jobs on December 18th and December 27th.)

Almost all of our volunteer needs happen on Gift Drop day and Christmas eve (but may have different level of time commitment). Please mark your anticipated availability/interest(s):

Volunteer Roles

Please note the time commitment/date of each before checking the box. Times are approximate and may change as the dates get closer, needs arise or scheduling changes.

Gift Drop Day, typically at JGMS the Saturday before Christmas Eve (it is expected to be December 17th in 2022): times/shifts vary through the day from 7:30am-5pm)

Gift Drop: Setup (~7:30am-8:30am): Help bring supplies from the storage site to the Middle School. This is about a 1-2 hour commitment. It is helpful, but not necessary to have a mini van or truck to move the supplies.

Gift Drop: Reception (8:30am-5pm - can be broken into shifts)

Gift Drop: Labeling Gifts (8:30am-5pm - can be broken into shifts)

Gift Drop: Gift Sorter (8:30am-5pm - can be broken into shifts)

Gift Drop: Food Coordinator: Plan, order, purchase and deliver lunch and snacks for volunteers. We have examples from the past and will reimburse. Low time commitment. You can drop off the food.

Other:

Christmas Eve (some roles require a couple hours before or after Christmas Eve)

Christmas Eve: Santa (December 24th): This is about a 4 hour commitment on Christmas Eve, 4:00pm report time for make up, 5:30pm, leave on route which typically ends between 7-8:00pm.

Christmas Eve: Driver (December 18th & December 24th) This is about a 5-6 hour commitment in total. Sort Day for about 1 hours. This is usually the Sunday before Christmas, sort and pack your gifts according to your route. Another hour or so commitment on or after Gift Sort day but before Christmas Eve to do a dry run of your route when it is light out (drive around and make notes where houses are before the big event). Christmas Eve (~4:30pm-7:30pm) to load up your car, and drive Santa around & return to the Middle School.

Christmas Eve: Checker (December 18th & December 24th) This is about a 5-6 hour commitment in total. Sort Day for about 1-1.5 hours. This is usually the Sunday before Christmas, sort and pack your gifts according to your route. Ride with Santa and keep gifts organized Christmas Eve (~4:30pm-7:30pm) & return to the Middle School.

Christmas Eve: Santa Costume & Makeup (December 24th) ~3pm-5:30pm Help get Santas dressed, this does not take any special skill or experience! Easily trained.

Christmas Eve: Food/Snack Coordinator - Plan, order, purchase and deliver food for volunteers. We have examples from the past and will reimburse. Low time commitment. You can just drop off the food.

Christmas Eve: Santa Check-in & Cleanup (December 24th) ~6:30pm-9pm Pack up some of the supplies to have ready to move back to the storage site on Clean up day.

Christmas Eve: Team Check-in & Cleanup (December 24th) ~6:30pm-9pm

Clean up ( typically December 26th - it will be December 27, 2022) This is a 1 hour commitment that entails bringing all supplies back to the storage site. Santa suits are all delivered to the cleaners, wigs and beards are boxed and delivered as well as all of Santa’s other accessories. (9:00am-10:00am)
