What is XIA Gallery & Cafe?
XIA is a coffee shop, and the first and only exhibition space in Little Mekong cultural district. It is dedicated to showcasing Asian American & BIPOC creative work and designs. XIA provides a space and other resources to support Asian American & BIPOC artists and makers to connect and celebrate Minnesota Asian & BIPOC communities.
XIA is a curated creative space by Asian Economic Development Association (AEDA). which continues AEDA's anti-displacement initiative to preserve culture and small businesses in Little Mekong. Little Mekong cultural district is located on University Avenue in Frogtown and Rondo. It emerged in the 1980s and 90s when Southeast Asian Vietnam War refugees were placed in St. Paul, MN.
What can you host in the space?
XIA Gallery & Cafe is welcoming artists, makers, & performers to utilize our space for their creative programs and events!
- Book Launch/Reading/Signing events for authors!
- Theater performances, such as plays, musicals, puppet shows for performers!
- Creative workshops to teach the community your craft & skills!
- Panel discussions, and more!
XIA is open to what you want to use the space for and would love to see how we can make it happen.
