If you are a year 6 to 13 (or equivalent age) Taupō youth, you are welcome to apply for a position on our 2020 Kids Greening Taupō Student Leadership Team.
Kids Greening Taupō is an environmental education programme, connecting kids to hands on restoration projects. Our aim is to green our town!
Through the Student Leader role, Taupō rangatahi/youth gain on-the-ground experience in leadership and conservation and are provided with opportunities to take action for the environment both through meetings and volunteer opportunities. The Student Leadership programme is implemented extra-curricular (outside of school), coordinated by the Kids Greening Taupō coordinator/s. Students will be involved with bi-weekly/monthly meetings after the first three consecutive weekly meetings below.
The first three Student Leadership Team meetings are scheduled for:
5-7pm Tuesday 24th March @ Botanical Gardens Clubrooms
All day Tuesday 31st March @ Botanical Gardens Clubrooms with the celebration evening that night (more details to come after applications close)
5-7pm Tuesday 7th April @ Botanical Gardens Clubrooms
Students will need to make their own way to these meetings via parent/caregiver transport and supervision. If unable to provide transport to these meetings, please contact us as we may be able to make arrangements.
BEFORE starting your application you need to prepare a short video or written submission answering this question: Why is Kids Greening Taupō important to you and what you could offer the programme?:

These submissions can be in any form you like. For example: sing a song, write an essay, a short movie, a poem, a dance... in any form you would like as long as you answer the questions above (section 4 only).
These need to be emailed to

ALSO organise a reference (an adult who we can call to ask questions about you). This could be a coach/mentor (someone from your hobbies), someone at school (teacher) or another adult. They cannot be a family member, Thea or Sian.
