Dr. Karishma Kaushik is a Physician, Clinical Microbiologist, Scientist, and Advocate for Women in Science studying infection states at the University of Pune, India. She is a Medical doctor (MBBS) with a specialization (MD) in clinical microbiology / infectious diseases and a Physician-Scientist with a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology. Dr. Kaushik is passionate about science outreach that focuses on young people, and her research group has founded and led ‘Talk To A Scientist’, a weekly interactive webinar series for young minds in India and across the world. Dr. Kaushik recently established her research lab in India after successfully teaching and researching at the University of Texas at Austin and UC Berkeley.

This panel is organized by the SparkED team. SparkED is an organization aimed to equip youth with resources and to educate, empower, and enable them to make informed decisions about their career and life. We hope to achieve greater knowledge and awareness of education/STEM and the many possibilities it encompasses through networking opportunities and mentors for all youth interested in exploring their options.
