2024 Iowa Juneteenth Observance Volunteer Committees
Hello
We are ready to get the planning started for the 2024 Iowa Juneteenth celebrations. We cannot do this alone so we need your help in the planning and execution of each event. Please see below details for each event and the options available for your to sign up for. If you have any questions, please email iowajuneteenth@gmail.com and Dwana Bradley (General Chairperson) or Kourtney Perry (Project Manager) will be in touch. 

Obligations
  1. Understand Your Role: Be clear about the committee's purpose, objectives, and your role. Ask questions for clarity!
  2. Commitment: Dedicate the necessary time and effort for the role that you choose. Attend meetings regularly and be prepared. 
  3. Participation: Engage actively in discussions, share ideas, and provide feedback. 
  4. Preparation: Review all relevant documents and materials regularly and most importantly before meetings. 
  5. Confidentiality: Respect any confidentiality information that is shared within the committee. Follow up with Project Manager or Committee Chairs if unsure. 
  6. Respectful Communication: Listen to others, avoid interruption while others are speaking, and engage in constructive debates. 
  7. Teamwork: Work collaboratively will all members of each committee. Recognize and value the expertise of others. 
  8. Decision-making: Make decisions that are in the best interest of the group or organization, not just individual preference. General Chairperson will have the final approval of every decision. 
  9. Follow-through: Any task that you sign up for, ensure that you complete it in a timely manner. If there are any issues, please report to Project Manager. 
  10. Continuous Improvement: Be open to feedback and ways to improve the committee's operations and outcomes.
  11. Ethical Standards: Avoid any conflicts. Uphold to high ethical standards that are aligned to the organizational goals. 
  12. Advocacy: Be a positive representative for the organization and your committee, both internally and externally. 
  13. Stay Up-to-Date: Continuously update yourself and your committee on matters related to the committee focus. 
  14. Succession Planning: Be a mentor or guide to new members and consider future leadership of the committee. 
  15. Meeting/Event Etiquette: Arrive on time, stay till the end, and notify in advance of any issues or concerns.
