Purpose of this reference/recommendation:
Each summer, Camp of the Good Shepherd (CGS) in Louisville, NE provides graded Bible
camps for children ages 4-19 (Pre-Kindergarten through High School graduates). The
motto of Camp of the Good Shepherd is: “Having fun learning about Jesus!” We depend
on our many volunteers to fill servant-leadership positions to make each summer season
of Bible camps as good (in content and quality) and as affordable as possible. The CGS
Sheepdogs (teen helpers who are 13 years old and older) provide much-needed assistance
with the facilitating of our Bible camp sessions.
Sheepdogs serve in our dining hall with meal prep and cleanup. They also help our CGS
Facilities Manager with daily custodial duties, campfire prep, garbage removal, recreation
and room setup and teardown, and other light work projects as needed to make camp
flow smoothly.
The CGS Sheepdog program is designed to help Junior High and High School students
develop a servant-leader’s heart and to receive joy from service to God and His children.
It is a great way for young people to develop their teamwork and leadership skills, while
growing closer to the Lord Jesus and making many friends in the process. Daily Bible
studies are part of the program, and involvement in chapel services are included in the
experience.
CGS is seeking young people with a heart for service, and with an ability to work together
to make our graded Bible camps the best they can be. While the Sheepdogs are helping
at camp, they are earning credit toward their own Bible camp session at Camp of the Good
Shepherd. We thank you, Reference and Recommendation Provider, for supplying helpful
information that will allow us to know more about the students who will be considered for
service among our Bible camp attendees during our Camp of the Good Shepherd Summer
Bible Camps season.
