BeFit Study Questionnaire
An estimated 1 million Australians are currently living with type 2 diabetes and a further 500,000 are living with the disease undiagnosed. Trends suggest these figures will only increase. Physical activity plays a major role in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes with regular exercise reducing HbA1C, hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, insulin resistance and assisting in weight management.  Despite the abundance of evidence for the benefits of physical activity and available resources, there is minimal training in Australian medical schools or specialist training on prescribing exercise. International literature suggests that primary care doctors foresee several barriers to exercise prescription.

This study aims to assess:
1. Australian General Practitioners and Endocrinologist’s knowledge of the evidence-based benefits of physical activity.
2. If Australian General Practitioners and Endocrinologists believe they are competently trained and confident to prescribe physical activity across a variety of clinical settings.
3. Barriers and patterns of prescribing physical amongst Australian General Practitioners and Endocrinologists.
