Recent events have highlighted a number of pressing and relevant issues affecting the lives of traditionally marginalized minorities, Black Americans being at the forefront of this issue. Whether or not you have seen or experienced racial and social inequality, these problems do exist and Illinois Tech is not immune to them.
The goal of this initiative is to get ideas and solutions to the different problems that are impacting our society, and implement them on the campus of Illinois Tech. We are looking for ways we can address these problems at Illinois Tech so that we can be a healthier and more culturally supportive campus.
This incubator-style initiative will take place over the span of roughly a month and a half, beginning on July 17th and ending on September 1st. Participants will develop their solutions in 4 phases (with a 5th small check-up phase), which are outlined below:
Phase 1: Initial Submission - July 17th
Phase 2: Consolidation & Solution Development - Online Form Submission: July 24th; Virtual Event: July 27th
Phase 3: Presentation - Online Form: August 28th; Presentation Day: August 31st
Phase 4: Implementation - September 1st
Epilogue Phase : Team Followup/Impact Report - May 2021
As a result, student teams will partner with SGA and work on implementing this idea throughout the 2020-2021 school year. In addition, Provost Peter Kilpatrick will volunteer his time to meet with the teams once or twice a month to get an update on progress!
The deadline for this submission is Friday, July 17th, at 11:59PM CST!
