1. Regardless of what computer type you have (Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Linux, etc.,) this guide will accompany you through the process of getting an Office suite on your device!
DO NOT use the Office 365 version accessible via the office.com website at any point during the semester
(see the screenshots below)! Instead, use this guide to access an Office version that contains all the features/buttons needed for homework completion. Points will be taken off an assignment if parts are missing because this deficient Online Office 365 suite was used!
The reason you should avoid using this Online version is that the Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
apps of this version are missing crucial features, tabs, and buttons that are necessary to complete our homework assignments
.
The following is a screenshot of a Word document that is accessed within the deficient Online version. If you see (1) a website's link bar of a browser at the top of the screen containing the phrase "bcmailcuny" or "sharepoint"
and
(2) the '9 dots' menu symbol at the top left corner, it means you are currently using the Online version.
If this is the case, stop using the Online version, and follow the instructions in this guide to get an Office version that contains fully-capable apps onto your computer.
2. It might take up to 30 minutes to complete the guide.
It is worthy, however, because, once set, the Office apps will serve you loyally and conveniently throughout your college studies!
3. You don't have to complete everything in one sitting, but please complete the steps in the given order.
