Brighter Bites is a program in multiple cities across the country, and seeks to bring fresh produce and education about healthy eating to underserved communities. In the Houston area, Brighter Bites partners with multiple schools to prepare bags of produce for families to pick up and take home that day.
During the boxing project, volunteers will help build produce orders for Brighter Bites schools. This includes sorting and boxing produce, then stacking the completed boxes of produce onto pallets. These pallets will then be delivered by the Houston Food bank to Brighter Bites schools throughout the week.
Volunteers who need carpool will meet at the circle in front of Student Center South at 8:00am and depart at 8:10am. We will volunteer from 8:30am until 12pm. Please indicate on this sign up form if you can provide carpool - we always need volunteer drivers!
You'll receive a reminder email prior to the event containing more information, and if you have any questions, please contact Melyssa Navarro at mvphh@central.uh.edu.
