Instead of letting the twitter algorithm pick the grist for conversation (peach mom, bean dad, etc), this is a not-really-secret group to coordinate around a better shared conversation. It's tempting to get drawn into a viral conversation/set of riffs, because *everyone* is talking about it, and thus there *are* interesting subthreads, once everyone's attention has been gathered. But everything good about those conversations could be reached with a better focus for discussion.
Hence, the poetry tanda.
A tanda (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanda_(informal_loan_club)) is an informal loan club, where members pool their money and one person gets the pot each week.
This poetry tanda will let one person each week (chosen at random) choose a short poem that all members of the tanda will read and strongly consider sharing on twitter.The goal is to break up the maelstrom with good writing and a little thoughtful reflection on the poem.
You might do a whole thread of analysis; you might just highlight a line you love. But the more of your friends that you invite to the tanda, the more your usual twitter conversations will be interrupted by something the algorithm wouldn't have chosen for you.
The first poem will be sent out next week.
