Welcome to the Wayland After School Chinese Program!
Since 2006, our program has offered students in Wayland’s elementary schools Chinese Culture and Language classes. We offer excellent multi-level instruction for students in Grades K-5, whose primary language is English.
Curriculum:
Each level is designed with a focus on different topics and vocabulary. Children are placed in classes (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced) according to their skill level. The progressive and spiral curriculum helps students acquire valuable basic communication skills as they learn how to speak and write basic Chinese, and advance through the three levels of classes.
General Class Instruction:
Wayland After School Chinese Classes keeps learning fun. Students gain listening and speaking skills in Chinese through songs, rhymes and poems, role-playing, games, and other fun activities. Basic Chinese characters are introduced to build reading and writing skills. China's geography, people, history, arts, and traditions are introduced to students through games, songs, poems, crafts, and foods. Class activities also include calligraphy lessons, cooking classes, and Chinese holiday celebrations.
Small class size: minimum number of students: 5; the maximum number of students: 12 each class
