1. Applicant must be a current member of a curricular high school or middle school band, orchestra, or choir.
2. Applicant must be presently in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade.
3. Applications must be submitted by Monday, April 4, 2022. Applications that are late or missing recommendations will not be considered.
4. Criteria used in the scholarship selection process:
*Musical achievement
*Past participation, attitude, and growth
*Potential for musical growth
*Grade Point average
*Commitment to private study and the Princeton music program
*Music Department needs
*Recommendation of music teachers
*Recommendation of counselor/non-music teacher
*Active interest and support of parents
*Student's future plans

THE FINAL DECISION WILL BE MADE BY THE PRINCETON MUSIC STAFF.

5. A student may receive only one private lesson scholarship while in middle school and one in high school.

6. Scholarship money will be sent to the music teacher with whom the selected applicant studies. Under no circumstances will scholarship money be paid directly to the student. Scholarship money will not be available until all required paperwork has been completed. Payment will be made in two installments shortly after the beginning of each semester. Payment of the second installment may be contingent on satisfactory progress being made by the student during the first semester.

7. Applications for 2022-2023 scholarships are due by 11:59 on Monday, April 4, 2022.

To be offered a music scholarship is an honor, and just as applicants and their parents should expect a higher level of musical accomplishment with the addition of private lessons, so does the music department expect a higher level of involvement from the recipients of scholarships. Students are expected to put forth the effort needed to be fully prepared for all lessons and to attend lessons on a regular basis. Scholarship recipients will also be expected to take advantage of worthy opportunities such as solo and ensemble contest as they become available during the year. Failure to meet these expectations may result in revocation of the scholarship.
