This camp includes numerous indoor and outdoor activities designed to engage learning through observation, reasoning, and hands-on experience. Your child should wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that are easy to move around in, and ok to get dirty. There is a risk of injury, which may likely include sun exposure and minor cuts, scrapes, and bruises. If your child is sensitive to chemicals present in sunscreen, bandages, cold packs, or any other common first-aid supplies, you will be expected to either provide these items with your child or deny permission for staff to apply sunscreen or administer care for minor injuries. If the participating child has emergency medication, such as an inhaler, the expectation of Pierce staff is that your child is capable of self-administering this medication, and that it will be provided in the child’s belongings. Please inform staff of any limitations of your child that we should be aware of to ensure they have fun and stay safe while at Pierce.

The snacks provided will be water and granola bars. If your child has any food sensitivities, please provide this information in the attached permission form and we will do our best to accommodate their needs. If your child has additional nutritional needs, such as frequent snacks, medication that needs to be taken with food, or a special diet, please provide these foods in your child’s belongings and inform staff of any needs such as access to refrigeration or heat, out-of-snack-time snacking, etc. that may come up.

Lunch will not be provided for this camp—please make sure your child brings a filling lunch, since we’ll be burning lots of energy!

While the group is outside, belongings will be either brought with us or locked in the classroom. However, to protect your child’s belongings, any electronic devices (tablets, games, etc.) will be left in the classroom. Pierce College will not be held responsible for any loss or damage of personal belongings.

If you have any questions at any time, please feel free to contact facilitator, Stella Kemper, by email or phone.
