Dear Parents or Guardians,
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to choose whether your student participate in the VIRTUS Protecting God's Children Safe Environment Program. The children's portion of the VIRTUS program uses an introductory video titled The Power to Protect along with age appropriate lessons and activities led by catechists and teachers. If you determine that you DO NOT want your child to participate, please complete the "opt-out" form at the bottom of this page and return it to your child's teacher or catechetical leader. Please realize that if you do not have your child participate in these lessons, you yourself are assuming the responsibility to talk to them about the content of these courses.
We encourage you to read the
Teaching Boundaries and Safety Guide so you'll be aware of the nature of the
VIRTUS Protecting God's Children Safe Environment Program for Children. This document may be accessed by logging into your account at
www.virtusonline.org and click on the
Teaching Boundaries and Safety Guide in the left hand bar. You may also request a copy of this document from your child's school, parish DRE or the Diocesan Safe Environment Office at 316-269-3921.
