Distinctive Learning Society a renowned educational, charitable & nonprofit established in 2001, is seeking STEAM Coach Interns or volunteers for our after school social service program 「2023 大手牽小手 PBS SEN/STEAM 共融社區服務計劃」 , designed to teach core curriculum with fun, challenging hands-on Educational Robot / Scratch Jr / Mindcraft  projects. This internship / volunteer work is perfect if you have a passion for STEAM, learning with kids and inspiring young minds and their interest in engineering and technology! We are looking for someone with experience with large groups in a camp or classroom.

STEAM 開發兒童動手能力和創新意識的教育機械人創意活動，不僅能夠讓兒童通過動手操作，體驗參與遊戲活動的快樂，更能夠激發兒童對周圍世界的好奇心和探究慾望，激發孩子的想像力和創造力，幫助孩子獲得重要的科學概念和科學概念之間的聯繫，同時促進孩子語言表達能力、合作交往能力、手眼協調能力、自然觀察能力、空間感知能力、邏輯思維等能力綜合發展。


STEAM develops children's hands-on and innovative awareness of educational robots. It not only enables children to experience the joy of participating in game activities through hands-on operation, but also stimulates children's curiosity and desire to explore the world around them, and stimulates children's imagination and creativity. To help children acquire the connection between important scientific concepts, and to promote the comprehensive development of children's language expression ability, cooperative communication ability, hand-eye coordination ability, natural observation ability, spatial perception ability, and logical thinking.

Responsibilities:

Deliver lesson content to children in an energetic and fun way
Manage a classroom of 8-12 students
Lead students in various Educational Robotic based activities
Attend all trainings
Be prepared and on time for class
Follow appropriate dress code (cover up tattoos, piercings)
Be familiar with and follow all safety guidelines and protocols.
Report to the STEAM Program Officer.

Pre-request:
Complete PBS SEN/STEAM Volunteer Training (Web Based)
Attend Service Orientation on Date & Venue TBC
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
Tech/Engineering knowledge preferred
Comfortable using laptops and tablets
A college degree or institution student preferred.
A clean background check.
Knowledge of and experience with Abilix  / Lego Robotics (NXT or EV3) /Sratch Jr / Minecraft equivalent
Programming experience
Knowledge of Abilix/  FIRST LEGO League/ FIRST Robotics /Sratch Jr / Minecraft

Service Period
Phase  l - Preparation / Volunteer Training / Promotion -  April 23 to Jun 30 2023
Phase II - Outreach Service  - May 2023 to Sept  2023 ( Mainly Sat in May , Weekday and Sat during July to Aug)
