Earth Day Poet-Tree Event at the Arboretum
Saturday, April 22| 11am-1pm 
  • Check-in on the lawn at 10:30; workshops begin after check-in
  • Poet-Tree Readings and Dedication at 12 p.m.
  • Community Picnic on the lawn to follow with lemonade and cookies provided--bring your lunch! 
Everyone is welcome to register for this free event! 

Choose from 1 of our 2 Poetry Writing Opportunities: 
  1. Poetry Workshop with Furious Flower Poetry Center Director Lauren Alleyne for adults and teens at the Tree Terrace. (Maximum participants = 20)  
  2. Poetry Workshop with Furious Flower Poetry Center Assistant Director L. Renee for people age 12 and under at the Pavilion. (Maximum participants = 20)
Self-Guided Poetry writing at the Labyrinth for all ages. (No participant maximum)

Parking for this event is plentiful and free in the JMU R5 lot on University Blvd. 

Wheelchair-accessible parking with access to the pavilion is in the Pond parking lot.

Wheelchair-accessible parking with access to the lawn and Tree Terrace is in the Frances Plecker Education Center lot.
