Ann Sullivan: Phonics for SEN Webinar Series - March 2024 - Expression of Interest form

Wensum English Hub are delighted to welcome Ann Sullivan for a free 3-part webinar series on helping SEN pupils with Phonics. The first session will examine the SEND context and answer the following questions:

  • Why teachers in mainstream schools need to understand how to meet the needs of pupils with moderate to severe and complex needs?
  • Can all children learn how to read?
  • What do we teach pupils with moderate to severe and complex needs when we teach them to read and spell?
  • What should a programme for pupils with complex SEND look like?
The second session will explore some simple strategies that enable access to phonics for pupils with a range of needs including, pupils with a physical disability and pupils who are pre- or nonverbal.
The third session will explore how to approach the teaching of blending with pupils with moderate to severe and complex SEND. The session will include looking at a number of useful strategies, some of which are not commonly used in mainstream programmes.
