We are recruiting for The Bruiser Arts Academy 2023 - Professional development for young people in the arts!
Taking place in July and August 2023, this is an essential part of the training provision available to young actors in Northern Ireland. Participants will experience visually exciting, rhythmic, choral and choreographic elements for which Bruiser is renowned, culminating in showcase performances throughout the Summer.
There are three courses available to apply for: START Academy, Summer School and Graduate Academy.
START Academy
Age: 12 - 16 years
Cost: £120 (6-day course)
Dates: 3rd - 8th July 2023
Location: The MAC, Belfast
This entry level course is designed for young people who love the idea of performing, but may not have had the chance to be on stage before. This course bridges the gap and is aimed at confidence building through performance. During the course, you'll explore Bruiser's unique physical style, voice and dance; all culminating in a showcase performance for your family and friends. Applicants are not required to audition to take part in this course, but are considered solely on the information provided in the application form.
Summer School
Age: 14+ years
Cost: £275 (10-day course)
Dates: 17th - 27th July 2023
Location: The MAC, Belfast
This course is designed to inspire and challenge young actors, providing them with the building blocks required to further pursue their acting ambitions. The Bruiser team will be joined by a range of industry professionals to coach and guide participants, holding them to a high standard of practice and providing essential experience and insight into the working world.
Graduate Academy
Age: 18+ years
Cost: £350 (12-day course)
Dates: 7th - 19th August 2023
Location: The MAC, Belfast
The Bruiser Graduate Academy is an intensive 12-day training course for young adults with a passion for the performing arts, who are serious about their career. You'll get heaps of individual attention from our expert directors, musicians, and choreographers to really hone your skills.
You'll also get one-on-one monologue coaching from a local director, and advice from agents and casting directors on landing your first gigs. We offer workshops / industry talks throughout the course such as completing your tax return, audition technique and how Equity can support you to give you as much background and knowledge to help launch your career. We’ll even help with your headshots and CV!
The Graduate Academy is aimed at actors aged 18+ who are preparing for Drama School, are attending further education, have graduated or are professional actors wanting to enhance their skills. The course will culminate in a showcase performance at The MAC, Belfast - a fantastic chance to get spotted!
Please note:
- Once you've registered your interest by filling out this form, we'll be in touch with more info and to arrange an audition via self tape. Submitting an application does not guarantee a place on the course.
- Due to the nature of our work, course activity is highly active and physical.
- Full attendance of your chosen course is required, and places are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
- There will be no course activity on Sundays - Sunday 23rd July and 13th August are days off.
