Additional Details Concerning the LCS High School 2021 Summer School Program:
The Lincoln County Schools Instructional Services Center is in the initial planning phase for Summer School 2021. Additional measures will be taken this year to enhance our Summer School programs across the district to assist with the instructional loss, learning gaps, and students falling behind their peers due to COVID-19. All schools in LCS will offer summer school.

The high school summer school program will be divided into two different sessions. The first session will focus on EOC courses for face to face instruction and students not proficient on their initial EOC will be required to retest. These students will have an opportunity for initial grade improvement based on their summer school work and EOC score. Some students will also work on APEX credit recovery at this time. The second session will be an APEX focus for credit recovery opportunities in a face to face environment with teacher support during the work time.  All summer school programs will align to the NC House Bill 82 guidelines; including time for physical activity and social-emotional support. A school counselor will be available to assist with student high school, career, and college planning. Students will be required to attend sessions face to face for both sessions. Transportation and meals will be provided for all students.

New and additional resources will be utilized for summer school from in the past years. There will be a blended face to face instructional approach to promote student success and engagement.

House Bill 82 requires every district to provide a 6 weeks summer school program. You may view details of the House Bill via the link below:
