OWFL is in the process of preliminary planning for a 2021 rep season that anticipates continuing COVID-19 protocol adjustments. Please note all of the below is subject to change. The season is likely to look different than what we are used to. One model being explored is the following: Gameplay may take place in cohorts of 4 teams with the possibility of some rebalancing of cohorts after a mandatory break in the schedule to allow for new cohort formation. It would be likely that games would still be played at one host site at central locations (ie. Halton, Oshawa etc.) in timed blocks for each cohort with U11 and U13 playing on Sundays and U15 and U19 playing on Saturdays (possible introduction of U17 age group play with Friday night games possible). Provincials would be a simplified format on the final day of play. Teams would play two games in one day back to back with a short break between games and would then be required to leave the game site for the next cohort to come in. Games would be played in a modified format with 7 v 7 on a smaller field being possible (6 v 6 for U15, U17 and U19) - rules could be modified to avoid contact. Rosters could be limited to 12 players in this format in order to allow for 4 teams in a 50 player cohort. League games could run from the end of May till late July with two mandatory weekends off in that time period to allow for rebalancing. Second teams in lower divisions may have an alternate game play format with more regional game play and/or tournament style game play rather than a set league schedule (ie. local home and away games and/or one day tournament play). *
