The Adult Parish Leader(APL) is designated as such from the Pastor of the parish or parishes.  The APL is at least 21 years of age and satisfies ALL Diocesan Safe Environment requirements.  The APL is responsible for all parish participants in the retreat and fulfilling the registration requirements. It is assumed that the APL will assist in the retreat planning, preparation, and the actual retreat according to the needs of the weekend and the APL’s gifts.

Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate in retreat.  Students will not be allowed to come late to this retreat for any reason.  No student will be allowed to drive to the retreat site. Students may not leave early from this retreat except in rare cases of illness. This retreat is not designed as a Confirmation retreat and ought to not be used as a requirement for Confirmation or a substitute.  This retreat has minimal service elements  to its design and it is not recommended to be counted for service related hours.  (Ratio is 1 adult to 5 youth/Maximum of 40 youth per parish or cluster and will be received on a first come first serve basis )

All Adult Chaperones must be at least 21 years of age and must satisfy ALL Diocesan Safe Environment requirements.  Chaperones are expected to follow the Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, job description, and serve under the guidance of their Adult Parish Leader.
Estimated number of young adults (18-21) attending *
Young adults out of high school under the age of 21 years old are encouraged to serve with the work crew. The work crew do not pay to be at Castaway and they primarily assists in the kitchen/dining and coffee shop areas.  On occasion, parishes may have young adults assist with small groups and other elements of the retreat related to their parish needs. While this approach is allowed, young adults under the age of 21 and not serving with the work crew are unable to be classified as chaperones and will be charged the same rate as other participants.  A maximum of 3 young adults under the age of 21 may serve with a parish as assistants.  
The retreat begins on Friday, March 24 at  2:00 p.m.  Participants will be picked-up at designated spots via Charter Bus.  The retreat ends on Sunday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m.  Students will be returned to the designated drop-off spots on Sunday afternoon.

Cost of Castaway is $175/participant (youth, chaperones and APL). This includes transportation, cabins rentals, meals, use of camp facilities and retreat materials.
Deposit of $90/participant due February 9, 2023. Registrations after Feb. 9 will require a $110 depsit for a total registration of $195
Balance of $85/participant due March 13, 2023
