The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Bursary 2024
Information for Applicants
The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) announces the availability of bursaries for veterinary nursing training, generously funded by The Kennel Club Charitable Trust.  ALL applicants must be a current BVNA Member.

Purpose
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Veterinary Nursing Bursaries are intended to help towards the costs associated with veterinary nursing training and CPD.  These costs may be course fees or other costs of an educational nature, associated travelling, accommodation and subsistence expenses.

Eligibility
Student Veterinary Nurses who are enrolled under the RCVS Veterinary Nursing Diploma/Degree/Apprenticeship and are undertaking training courses leading to becoming an RVN are eligible to apply for a bursary towards the costs of their training.
Registered Veterinary Nurses whose names are on the Register maintained by the RCVS are eligible to apply for a bursary towards the cost of CPD courses or projects in relation to small animals.
This bursary is intended for student veterinary nurses or registered veterinary nurses who are working within a Veterinary Practice, which is primarily a small animal practice.  Any recipients of the bursary must continue working within a practice environment for at least two years.  If any recipient ceases to work within this field during this period then the monies paid to them must be reimbursed in full.

Value
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust has provided a fund of £3,000 for Students and for RVNs.  Individual bursaries are likely to range between £500 and £1,000.
Bursaries will be awarded to successful applicants in October of each year.  Recipients will be invited to attend BVNA Congress for promotional purposes and to be presented with their cheque.

Duration
The bursaries awarded in 2024, are for costs that should be incurred within one year, up to 31 August 2025.  The award must only be used for the training outlined in the application.  Bursary holders must give an undertaking to this effect and will be obliged to seek the consent of BVNA if the training programme is altered, or other circumstances prevent the training being taken up in the specified period.

Reporting
It is a condition of The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Bursary awards that the award holder must report to the BVNA at the conclusion of the studies/ training for which the grant has been made.

References:
Two referees are required to support the application, one of which should be the current/most recent employer (if applicable) or the Programme Manager at the University/College.  Both of the references should be e-mailed to lisa@bvna.co.uk and the application form should be completed prior to 30 June 2024.  The reference e-mails should also confirm that the applicant’s details are correct.

Closing Date
The closing date for applications, including references, is 30 June 2024.  Applicants are advised to submit their application forms in advance of this date to allow for any follow up queries.
