About the presentation:

We’re entering a new era – an era driven by continuing technological advances in several areas and desire by businesses and industry and individuals around the world to better exploit the potential of these advances, supported by changes in our socioeconomic landscape and in our attitude. The advances in computing, communication and information technologies in the past three decades and their wide spread adoption have impacted almost everything in several ways mostly positively. They are, however, only the beginnings; we can look forward to further significant advances and yet unanticipated major disruptions in all areas. What is on hold for us in the future – new smart information age? What new technological advances should we pay attention to? What are new opportunities on the horizon? How will the emerging new disruptions in almost every area affect us – individuals, industry and society? What are new issues and challenges that we might face, and how can we address them?  How can we – professionals and students – get prepared for the new era filled with changes, opportunities, and challenges? In this talk, I’ll address these questions and present a snapshot of what’s on hold for us.
