Parents and family members of special children experience challenges and emotions that might differ from those experienced by typical children. Parents of special needs children often experience stress, burnout, and loneliness. They also might face challenges in locating and accessing effective treatments and resources, learning more about the disability and getting appointments with medical providers, therapists, advocates, and school personnel for appropriate interventions.
At these times, one of the best resources for parents and caregivers of special needs children are other parents who might face similar challenges. They can gain strength and support by networking with other parents and understand through support groups. Parents and caregivers often get beneficial support and information that might help them provide more effective care for their children.
In view of this Fernandez Child Development Center is spearheading a Parent Support Group. This group will function both, with the physical presence (when applicable) as well as with the virtual presence.
