Announcing Auditions for "
Deathtrap by Ira Levin", presented by Washington Street Players
Auditions will be held at the upper town hall in Holliston, MA, 703 Washington St, on Wednesday December 13th from 7-9 and Thursday December 14th, from 7-9.
There will be a read-through and 1-2 rehearsals in January and then formal rehearsals will start in February. Rehearsals will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting at 7pm and Sunday afternoons (time TBD according to cast availability).
Performance dates are 4/12, 4/13, 4/19, 4/20, 4/26, 4/27 @7:30pm.

Comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college—a thriller that Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway smash. Sidney’s plan, devised with his wife’s help, is to offer collaboration to the student for co-credit. Or is it? DEATHTRAP provides twists and turns of devilish cleverness, and offers hilariously sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be spellbound until the very last moment.
Characters:
Sidney Bruhl (45-60s, Male) – A one-time hit playwright who fears his best days are behind him and is capable of doing almost everything to recapture his glory. And writing may not be his only theatrical skill.
Clifford Anderson (20s-30s, Male) – Appears to be everything Sidney is not; young, and, more importantly, in possession of an idea for a clear hit play. A sophisticated man who can pretend he is anything but when it suits his purpose.
Myra Bruhl (40s-50s, Female) – Sidney’s wife who is willing to do much to support his career but finds there are lines she is not willing to cross.
Helga ten Dorp (Any, Female) – A famous Dutch psychic who (of course) knows it. Eccentric, she is willing to say what needs to be said and able to extricate herself from difficult situations.
Porter Milgrim (30s and up, Male) – Sidney’s attorney and friend who takes full notice of everything happening around him. A voice of reason.
