The Affordable Arts Program is a way to make fine arts programs more accessible to youth. Fine arts programs build creativity and self-confidence and give youth an outlet to express themselves. Each program has 5 Tuesday sessions (February 28, March 7, March 14, March 21, March 28)
The cost is $20 for each program and that can be paid in cash at the first session.
All sessions will take place at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy (3100A Stewart Creek Drive).
Program descriptions are below:
Art - Drawing Foundations (Tuesdays from 5-6pm for ages 9-13)
This session is for youth that want to work on their drawing skills. There will be pencil only drawings to work on shading technique and drawing with a variety of colour techniques Participants will need to bring a pencil and white eraser for this program but all other art supplies will be provided.
Guitar - Learning Tab and Chords (Tuesdays from 6-7pm for ages 11-16)
This session is for youth that are brand new to guitar or want to improve their current guitar skills. Acoustic guitars will be provided for participants to use during the session. Participants can bring their own guitars if they wish. Participants will increase their skills with chords and tab by playing a variety of songs.
Drama - Dramatic Improv. (Tuesdays from 7-8pm for ages 10-15)
This session is for youth that want to try new things and take dramatic risks. Dramatic improvisation, improv for short, is a way for people to interactive with others in a positive and creative way. This is open to youth that are new to improv. or youth that already have experience. Be ready to laugh and move in this energetic session.
