Pueblo Unido PDX is supporting the Collective of Indigenous Interpreters of Oregon (CIIO) to help Indigenous language speakers overcome barriers to legal and social services, and to ensure just compensation and treatment of indigenous interpreters. Current members of CIIO represent languages including Spanish, K’iche’, Q’anjob’al, Akateko, Chuj, Mixteco Bajo, Purépecha,
Q'eqchi', Zapoteco, Ixil, and Mam.

Interpretation involves rendering SPOKEN content into another language, while translation involves rendering WRITTEN content into another language.*
