MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) is large community hospital with a well established clinical pharmacy residency program (training residents since 1972). This residency provides broad experience in hospital pharmacy practice. There is specialized emphasis in adult clinical practice, drug information skills, and clinical pharmacokinetics.
MemorialCare Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach (MCMCWHLB) is one of only 8 free-standing children’s hospitals in California. It is the major teaching hospital for pediatric medical residents from the University of California, Irvine. This PGY-1 residency program has been training pediatric-focused pharmacy residents since 2005, with a 2-year break during the pandemic. The program is designed to provide a broad foundation in pediatric clinical pharmacy practice and exposure to high-risk obstetrics. MCMCWHLB has ASHP pre-candidate accreditation status.
