We are very pleased that you are interested in becoming part of our 2020 Pilot 1: Intro to Filmmaking Program!
Pilot I (Intro to Filmmaking): Through this free virtual 12-week Workshop Program, filmmakers ages 13-19 will learn to collaborate with other young filmmakers from across Los Angeles, and meet professionals from the creative industry while learning the fundamentals of the art, craft, and business of independent filmmaking.
This course is a foundation for any student who wants to communicate their ideas through visual media and to understand the media landscape that surrounds them.
Students will…
1. Develop an understanding of cinema history and the language of film.
2. Build confidence in themselves and their ability to create an original work of art.
3. Develop media literacy and visual storytelling skills.
4. Understand basic cinematography, editing, and sound recording.
5. Understand the production process and the roles on a film crew.
6. Collaborate with each other and develop teamwork skills.
These workshops will be held on a zoom link that will be emailed to you.
Our film programs have grown out of our spoken-word and literacy-focused non-profit, Get Lit - Words Ignite. Our engaging, educational setting is a fantastic place to develop not only an artistic voice but also the professionalism needed to succeed in the 21st Century workplace.
