Become a mentor at the Learning to Code programme
The Software Sustainability Institute is looking for volunteers for our next Research Software Camp to mentor beginners who code in academia as part of our Learning to Code mentorship programme. Volunteers will ideally identify as Research Software Engineers, even if that’s not their current job title.

The Research Software Camp will focus on improving computational skills and exploring existing resources out there. The Camp will be held from 19th to 30th June 2023.

**What to expect**

The Learning to Code mentorship programme will run from 24th April to 26th June 2023 (8 weeks). We will hold a Launch event on Monday 24th April 2023 to mark the start of the mentorship. We will also hold an information session for mentors, where we will set expectations and provide guidance around mentoring itself. At the end of the mentorship, we'll run an event to allow mentees present their projects.

We ask mentors to commit to 1 hour every week to walk their mentees through their projects from the 24th April to 26th June 2023, around 1 hour in total for both the information session and the Launch event, and 1 hour for the end of mentorship event.
