Parent Workshop/Book Study: Anxiety in Children & Teens. Enrollment in our April 2021 series

WHY:       Welcome to the enrollment form for our next series of Virtual Parent Workshop & Book Study, with a Focus on Anxiety in our Youth. After one of the most challenging years we've known, is a perfect time to get a handle of emotions in ourselves and our kids. How our children respond to uncomfortable feelings and life's stressors has a lot to do with parents' understanding, responses, and reactions. See below for comments from former participants.

WHO:    This workshop is geared toward parents of elementary age children, middle schoolers, and teenagers. Your child need not have any current diagnoses of anxiety, we will offer both response and preventative strategies.

WHEN:  April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3, 2021 7pm to 8:30pm EST

WHAT:   We'll be sharing content and guiding discussions about the nature of anxiety, and strategies to help develop coping, confidence, and resiliency.  Together, we will be reading and discussing the book "Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents" by Reid Wilson and Lynn Lyons. Please plan to borrow, purchase, or listen to this book in preparation for these sessions.  There will be four sessions held virtually where we will discuss topics from each section of the book, supplemented with other information and resources. Participants will be encouraged (but not required) to share their connections, thoughts, and questions with the group, which other participants have found extremely helpful. You'll leave each session with insight and practical steps to try in your home.

WHO WE ARE:   These sessions are hosted by two licensed school psychologists.
Megan Davis, M.A., NCSP and Allie Farris, Ed.S. together have decades of experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and teachers on a range of learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.  Bios on both can be found at Counseling and Assessment Practice of Fairfax (www.capfairfax.com).

COST: The fee is $150 for all four sessions (total 6 hours with two clinicians). This fee amounts to the cost of one therapy session in our region.
** 100% of our previous participants though this workshop was a good value!
