Thanks for your willingness to lend a hand facilitating bike safety lessons for middle school-aged students in Routt County! The 2024 Street Smarts program will occur for 6th graders at the Sleeping Giant School, Hayden Valley School and Steamboat Springs Middle School. Volunteers will co-lead small groups of students on bikes in lessons such as helmet fitting, bike safety checks, rules of the road, and more.
Volunteers must be confident and proficient cyclists (for basic road + commuter riding) and have their own bike, helmet, and appropriate gear for all weather conditions! Questions can be directed to lucy@routtcountyriders.org.
Please note that there will be an optional (but highly encouraged) volunteer training evening in BOTH Steamboat and Hayden prior to the program:
- Sleeping Giant + SSMS - Training Tuesday 5/7 from 5:00-6:00 @ Steamboat Springs Community Center, American Legion Room
- Hayden Program - Training Tuesday 5/14 from 5:00-6:00 @ The Hayden Center, Birch Room
*Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are postponing our Steamboat Christian Academy Program to a later date.*
