Project Based Learning and Social Emotional Learning are two of the hottest trends in education right now. Unfortunately, they often get viewed as two different "programs".  As Frey, Fisher and Smith advocate in All Learning is Social and Emotional, SEL should not be another added thing to teachers' plates. It needs to be integrated into the academic mainstream rather than remain on the periphery. PBL expert and Edutopia Blogger Mike Kaechele has spent considerable time researching and writing about how SEL and PBL are naturally interwoven. @MikeKaechele has created a podcast, a dedicated website, and Facebook site to share his work. Join Mike (virtually) in-person to learn how we can more purposely integrate SEL into your PBL practice.

Interested in attaining graduate credit for attending these PLCs?  Here's how.  Attend 8 PLC topics of your choice.  Write a brief summary of how each PLC topic resonated with you and your practice. “We Want a PBL Learning Community!” You asked for it, you got it!

PBLers - both new and experienced, have been asking for a way to stay connected this year as most of us will likely be embarking upon some type of digital PBL journey with our students. We know this is daunting and can feel lonely. PBLMatters is proud to create a FREE PBL PLC (professional learning community) series to help you be successful. Our goal is to connect you with PBL experts in the field and to establish a community of fellow PBL teachers that can routinely meet and share questions, solutions, and strategies.  Each PBL PLC session will have a specialized topic and begin with an introduction by a featured guest speaker with time for Q/A and breakout sessions with other teachers. Our plan is to create an ongoing series of PBL PLC convenings. Stay tuned to see an offering about every 2 weeks.  Please share these FREE PBL PLC opportunities with your colleagues!
