Conversation Partners, Fall 2020
Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a conversation partner! You will be a fantastic contribution to the program. Please complete this survey by Friday, May 15 so I can create a schedule for the fall.

We may need to make certain programmatic changes for the fall semester in response to COVID-19, but I sincerely appreciate your understanding and willingness to be involved as a conversation partner.

Helpful information:

There will be two orientation meetings held early in the semester, during the second week of classes, on September 15 and 16. Conversation partners must attend one orientation meeting and four monthly training meetings, each held twice throughout the semester. Monthly meetings are mandatory and held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm. If this is a dealbreaker for you, please do not volunteer for this program! Please let me know immediately if you no longer wish to participate so I can plan accordingly.

I sincerely look forward to working with you throughout this coming semester.

Thank you again for volunteering!

How many hours would you like to volunteer each week? Conversation partners are expected to volunteer at least two hours per week, and most do this amount. Please don't feel pressured to volunteer more than two hours per week if you think it may not be sustainable later in the semester. *
Please indicate whether you'd prefer to volunteer once per week for two hours, twice per week for an hour each time, or suggest a different arrangement. I prefer conversation partners to volunteer one hour twice per week (to avoid the need to reschedule six students in case you are ill), but this is up to you. *
Please provide 2-3 times when you're available to volunteer each week. The LRC is open 10-6 M-Th, and 10-3 on Fridays. Conversations begin at the top of each hour and every twenty minutes after that (ie, 10:00am, 10:20am, 10:40am). *
Would you be willing to serve as a walk-in or on-call language tutor as well? Depending on how the sign-up process goes when classes start, you may have empty slots in your schedule that could be offered to students seeking grammar, vocabulary, test prep help, etc. Or you could be "on call" for an extra hour each week. *
