Volunteer for The Graduate Mentor Program at CodeSquad!
CodeSquad’s Graduate Mentor Program provides a framework for CodeSquad grads to connect with mentors and build a relationship that will improve graduate persistence and success in steps towards getting a job and reaching career goals.
Mentor/Mentee meetings are held via video chat, once a week for the first month, typically starting in June or July, and approximately once a month for the following five months.
Mentors may assist mentees with things like:
- Illuminating their career goals and outlining steps to reach them
- Brainstorming solutions to barriers that may get in a graduate’s way
- Connecting professional networks, opportunities, and industry contacts
- Help graduates develop employer desired “soft” skills, understand workplace expectations, and increase their likelihood of finding a great career.
- Support for graduates of marginalized identities in navigating racism, sexism, etc. in the tech industry
- Support to mitigate imposter syndrome
- Prep for interviews and technical challenges
