2021 Kid Teach Kid Rising Star Mentorship Program Application
Howdy!

This summer, Kid Teach Kid is hosting a program for our younger students who are interested in staying academically engaged. We are recruiting dedicated mentors (grade 7-10 AND age 13+) for our first cohort who are interested in teaching our elementary-aged students. As a mentor, you will teach at least one class of your choosing for at least three weeks with one hour-long session per week. Through this mentorship program, you will gain valuable experience in teaching, enhance your communication skills, and earn volunteer hours for a great cause. Furthermore, you will gain access to exclusive resources like opportunity lists, conference invitations, and access to one-on-one guidance from our nationally-renowned Kid Teach Kid staff on furthering your education. Check out our staff member bios here: https://kidteachkid.org/about-us/

Because we cannot admit every applicant, we will require you to complete this application form. We will also choose to interview some applicants based on their written application. The application process is selective, and  more information on the interview process will be provided if you selected for one in the near future.

The deadline to apply to the mentorship program is Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 11:59 CST.

Decisions will be released on June 9, 2021. We practice ROLLING ADMISSIONS. We may contact you sometime before decisions are released to set up an interview time. *We strongly encourage you to submit your application well before the deadline of June 6*, to allow for a wider range of options for potential interview times.

Eligibility: Grades 7-10 (in the upcoming school year) AND be at least 13 years old

Requirements: You will need to prepare your own course syllabus, PowerPoint Presentations, and homework for students. You should have strong speaking skills, be knowledgeable in your subject, and be patient with young students. Each course you teach must have at least 3 sessions, with one hour per session. If you are selected for the interview, you will be asked to perform a mock presentation to the Kid Teach Kid staff. The class that you teach may be on any subject that you like, i.e. oceanography, paleontology, animals, sentences, geometry, etc.

Benefits of being a mentor: You will receive valuable teaching tips from our nationally-recognized Kid Teach Kid staff, access to many valuable educational resources, exclusive conference invitations, and one-on-one guidance on maximizing your high school experience with a Kid Teach Kid staff member of your choice. You will join a tight-knit community of some of the most high-achieving students in the country.

In this application, please do your best and be very thorough. We will be deciding interviewees based on the completeness and quality of the responses given in this application.
