Consensus, a Kansas City based nonprofit organization founded in 1984, is recruiting new board members. The mission of Consensus is to "put the public in public policy." We believe that through community engagement focused on giving people a voice in the decisions that affect their lives we can strengthen the civic fabric. We facilitate dialogue and public engagement on issues in Kansas City and the region. We promote civility in public discourse and honor those who attempt it at our annual Civility Awards. Our unique business model enables us to seek out earned income through consulting work in addition to philanthropic support.
Board members serve terms of up to three years. We ask all board members to commit to attending at least 75% of the meetings, participate in committee work and Consensus events, and making a meaningful annual financial contribution to the organization (suggestion is $100).
