Application for the 2024 REU Scientific Computing for Structure, May 18 to July 28, 2024, at the University of Miami.

REU's are funded by the National Science Foundation. All applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.

The application's three sections asks for (1) personal and demographic data, (2) your GPA, transcript, (3) two letters of reference, and  (4)  one essay.

In one essay the student can introduce herself or himself. We encourage biographic sketches, or statements of aspirational models. In the second essay, the applicant should focus on her or his expectations for the summer program.

Students are matched with mentors by their interests. Decisions are ongoing, but one should expect decisions to begin by middle March.

LETTER OF REFERENCE

The application form asks for a reference with email. The applicant should have the letter writer send a letter of reference to burt@cs.miami.edu. The applicant should also ask the letter writer to visit https://forms.gle/92ZEmD62J6iY6fke7 and fill out that form, as well as sending the letter.

SUBMISSION OF ESSAYS AND TRANSCRIPT

The form asks for your GPA. Please email a scan of your transcript to burt@cs.miami.edu with subject line: transcript - _your_name_.

On the form submit a summary (250 character limit) of each essay. Please prepare the essays, preferably in PDF,  and email to burt@cs.miami.edu with subject line: essays - _your_name_.
