Read out about our programs here and let us know what you want you and your family to be involved in:
The Pertame School Elder Advisory Committee - This Committee meets once a term to provide direction and advice to its members on the operation of the Pertame School. All Pertame Adults are welcome to attend from every family group. Meetings are held at Ingkerreke Alice Springs office at 24 Kidman Street.
Pertame Choir - we have recently formed a choir to teach our children to sing in language. All primary and high school aged Pertame children are welcome to join. We rehearse every week from 3:30pm-5pm at Centralian Middle School in the year 9 classroom. If you let your school know, they can organise to put your child on the bus to CMS every Thursday so your child can attend choir rehearsals. We can assist with drop offs back home at 5pm.
On-country camps- we hold several Pertame language learning camps on country each year. The next camp will be over Easter. Location to be advised. All Pertame family from all age groups are welcome
Pertame Language Nest Immersion Preschool- In April this year we will be launching the first complete Petame immersion play group for 0–5-year-olds and their carers to develop Pertame as a first language alongside English. It will run 5 days a week from 10am-12pm and provide a bus pick up and drop off service. More information here: https://www.pertameschool.org/language-nest
Master-Apprentice Program - The Pertame Master-Apprentice program seeks to create new fluent speakers of our endangered language. We have a handful of dedicated apprentices that work 5 days a week from 10am-2pm to learn Pertame from our Elder speakers. We are always looking for more Pertame fluent speakers to help teach our apprentices, the children and the wider community their language.
