NIRSA National Flag Football Site Selection Criteria for 2023-2025
Deadline: March 15, 2023

Dear NIRSA Colleagues,

Thank you for your consideration to serve as a NIRSA Championship Series National Flag Football tournament host.

We are looking for a new institution to carry the torch from Round Rock, Texas where Southwestern University, St. Edward's University , and The University of Texas at Austin have served as our hosts and provided experiential and developmental opportunities for countless student participants and volunteer staff. There are many benefits of hosting including:
University Exposure
Staff and Student Professional Development
Positive Economic Impact on your surrounding area

The Flag Football Work Team will be looking for a host that will be able to follow in the footsteps of   Southwestern University, St. Edward's University, and the University of Texas at Austin and provide these opportunities for the next generation of participants and staff.

In order to facilitate a successful host experience, the NIRSA Championship Series Committee and its related affiliates have created resources, surrounding best practices and general guidelines for hosting, including a tournament operations manual, which will be made available shortly. For more information on resources, or to receive a copy of last year’s manual, please email NIRSA Assistant Director of National Sport Programs, Nicole Jackson nicole.jackson@nirsa.org.

Some other aspects of hosting that you can expect are: serving on the selection committee for National Flag Football leadership positions, monthly planning calls with the leadership of the National Flag Football Tournament, coordinating with local vendors to provide amenities for the staff hospitality area, and coordinating operations for the tournament including providing equipment, score keepers, travel for staff and officials to and from the airport, and securing hotel rooms for volunteer staff.

Contact Nicole, the Assistant Director of National Sport Programs at the NIRSA Headquarters at nicole.jackson@nirsa.org to get more information regarding economic impact of this type of event or about working with your local sports commission to get sponsorships and grants.

If you are interested in hosting and have questions or concerns please reach out to Stephanie Calhoun, Flag Football Work Team Chair, Lane Goodwin, Flag Football Work Team Vice-Chair, or Nicole Jackson, NIRSA HQ.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Calhoun, University of Georgia, sgcal@uga.edu
