PIERRE & MARC CAISSIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
On June 15, 1987, Pierre Caissie lost his life in a tragic drowning accident while trying to save another youth.
Pierre Caissie had been a member, leader, volunteer, and staff of the Moncton Boys & Girls Club Inc. for fifteen years.
He was scheduled to enter his fourth year at the University of Moncton.
In July of 1989, Marc Caissie, the brother of Pierre, also died in a tragic accident. Along with his wife, Suzanne, and five month old daughter, Angele, Marc died in a house fire. Marc, the eldest son of the Caissie family was the founder of the Caissie Memorial Scholarship Fund which was designed to provide financial assistance towards a Post-Secondary education for youth at the Moncton Boys & Girls Club Inc.
Pierre and his brother Marc showed great personal commitment towards the development of youth. It is in honour of their fine example of service to the club and community that their many friends commemorate this bursary as a living memorial.
On June 8, 1990, the family of Pierre Caissie accepted the Star of Courage presented by Governor General of Canada. Mr. Charles Caissie accepted this award on behalf of his brother, Pierre.
